Protect the Border Beginner Guide

You are a border police officer. Your job sounds simple — check papers, search cars, keep the line — but every traveler is a test, and every sunset changes the game. This guide walks through the full loop and the three decisions you will make all day, every day.

The core loop: ID. Face. Trunk.

Every vehicle that reaches your checkpoint gets the same treatment, in the same order:

1. Meet the driver. When a vehicle arrives, interact with the driver. Don’t approve or reject instantly, even if they look harmless.
2. Check the ID. Open the driver’s identification. Verify the name, the photo description, and the expiration date are all consistent.
3. Match the face. Compare the driver’s actual appearance — hair, accessories, clothing — against the description on the ID. Mismatches are the classic tell of a fake document.
4. Scan the vehicle. Look at the car itself for anything off: damage, modifications, or details that don’t match the registration.
5. Search the trunk. Open the trunk and inspect the cargo. Illegal goods — weapons, drugs, contraband — are your justification to act.

The golden rule: never approve based on the driver’s face alone. The trunk decides.

Three decisions, every traveler

• Approve — the traveler is clean (or you missed something). You earn standard pay and the border stays calm.
• Arrest — you found contraband or a fake ID. Cuff them, take them to the cells. You remove the threat but walk away from any bribe.
• Take the bribe — the suspect offers cash to look the other way. Instant money, but you just let a threat through your line, and nights are harder when bad people get through.

Decision framework: legal cargo, matching ID → approve. Illegal cargo → arrest. Desperate cash + suspicious traveler → the bribe is a trap that pays now and taxes you at night.

Money basics

You earn from three sources:

• Standard processing — safe, consistent income from approving legal travelers.
• Bribes — high instant payout, increases night danger.
• Enforcement — arrests remove threats but forfeit bribe money.

There are two currencies: Cash and Gold. Their exact spending uses are still being documented — check back after in-game verification.

Surviving your first night

When the sun sets, waves of enemies attack the checkpoint. Prepare during the day:

• Stock supplies — ammo and health items before dark.
• Clear the backlog — process as many travelers as possible while it’s safe.
• Pick positions — know your defensive spots near the checkpoint.

At night: prioritize the closest threat, don’t let enemies surround you, use the checkpoint structures for cover, and loot only when the area is clear.

What about codes?

Protect the Border has no codes system as of August 2026 — no active codes, no expired codes. If you see a site advertising “Protect the Border codes”, it’s a scam.
